Supporting the capacity of child protection staff in Greek hotspots

The Agency, in cooperation with the European Asylum Support Office has continued with the capacity building seminars on child protection in Greek migration hotspots.

The seminars were organised in Lesvos on 16 January and in Samos on 18 January. They were attended by child protection staff from the Reception and Identification Service that were appointed last September, and main child protection actors in the field. These included the UNHCR, guardians from the METAdrasi NGO as well as other local NGOs. The seminars addressed many practical challenges for the protection of unaccompanied children in hotspots, such as age assessment, missing children, reception conditions, guardianship or accessing schools.
