Supporting Romania prepare for its EU Presidency

On 16 and 17 April, the FRA Director was in Bucharest, to prepare the Agency’s cooperation during Romania’s Presidency of the Council of the EU

In the context of this visit, he met the Romanian Secretary of State for Bilateral and Strategic Affairs in the Euro-Atlantic Area, George Ciamba, on 16 April to explore how FRA can best support Romania with fundamental rights advice and expertise during its Presidency of the EU Council. The meeting served to underline Romania’s commitment to defending and promoting fundamental rights during its Presidency.

Romania also pledged to continue to support the Agency and its work on advancing fundamental rights at the EU and national level. While in Romania, the Director also gave a public lecture hosted by the National University of Political Science and Public Administration and met with national human rights institutions during his visit.
