The purpose of the visit was to better understand the situation and offer assistance.
He met with the Ministry for Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, the Ministry of Interior and Ministry for Social rights and Agenda 2030. He also met with the President of the Canary Islands, the regional Minister for Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth, the Spanish Ombudsman and UN’s Refugee Agency.
FRA also visited some of the reception facilities on the Canary Islands.
