Conference explores ruling on passenger name records for European security

FRA took part in a conference on the legal consequences of a recent Court of Justice of the EU ruling on the Passenger Name Records (PNR) Directive for the future of European laws governing security.

The panel FRA took part in focused on EU privacy standards and public-private collaboration in light of the ruling. The ruling examined the applicable rules where both public and private authorities engage in personal data collection and use.

The conference included a series of panels with renowned speakers and panellists, mainly from research and civil society, together with some representatives from the European Commission, the European Data Protection Supervisor, and FRA.

The conference took place on 24 February in Amsterdam.
