Presentation of FRA’s independent monitoring guidance to EUAA networks

FRA took part in a joint meeting of three EU Asylum Agency (EUAA) networks working on asylum, reception and vulnerabilities in Malta on 19 November. The meeting focused on challenges and priorities in the implementation of the screening and border procedures.

National authorities, the UN Refugee Agency, and the European Commission also attended. The session was followed by a meeting of the EUAA Vulnerability Network on 20 and 21 November. This also included civil society representatives. 

During both meetings, FRA presented its guidance on monitoring fundamental rights during screening and the asylum border procedure

Key discussions revolved around legal counselling, age assessment methodologies, alternatives to detention and the coordination among national authorities and between national authorities and civil society actors.
