EEAS/Commission Inter-Service Group on Human Rights

FRA participated for the first time in the EEAS/Commission Inter-Service Group on Human Rights. The group is chaired by the European External Action Service (EEAS) Human Rights Unit and brings together all Directorates-General (DGs) which have an international human rights dimension.

The various DGs gave a detailed overview of current and upcoming policy initiatives relevant to fundamental rights, and how international and enlargement partners are involved in them. FRA updated on work related to these initiatives, such as the Anti-Racism Strategy and recent reports relevant to the EU’s involvement in UN bodies dealing with international treaties (e.g. GBV survey for the upcoming Commission on the Status of Women, work on people with disabilities in institutions for the CRPD, and the Intergovernmental Working Group on a new legally binding instrument on the rights of older persons)
