Project Manager, Asylum and Migration, Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Unit
Katarína Lughofer's areas of expertise with respect to FRA’s work include: fundamental rights advice in the implementation of the hotspot approach, migration, vulnerable groups and border management.
She has previously worked for the International Organization for Migration (IOM), covering the areas of migration and border management where she was involved in project development, project management as well as monitoring and evaluation. During the migration crisis she was on frequent field missions to the Western Balkans, where she was involved in various research and capacity building activities with a focus on countering migrant smuggling, trafficking in human beings and on human rights standards in migrant detention. She has contributed to several publications and assessments which focus on irregular migration.
She studied law and holds a postgraduate degree in Human Rights and Democratisation from the European Inter University Centre, Venice.
