Programme Officer, Asylum and Migration, Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Unit
Sara is mainly responsible for FRA’s work on EU large-scale information systems and their impact on fundamental rights within the Agency’s Programme on Asylum, Borders and Migration. This includes cooperation with the European Commission, Member States and relevant EU agencies, such as eu-LISA and Frontex through participation in trainings, expert meetings, and activities to strengthen fundamental rights awareness. She also follows the work of the EU Justice and Home Affairs Agencies network on behalf of FRA. In the past, she has been responsible for communicating the work of the Agency to the European Parliament and for monitoring developments in EU policymaking.
In her previous roles, she closely followed the EU human rights and fundamental rights agenda, working for the European Commission (DG Development and Cooperation, European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights), the European Parliament (Sub-Committee on Human Rights) and for a Brussels-based NGO. She also worked as a Human Rights Specialist for the United Nations Development Programme in Madagascar.
She is a political scientist by education with an LLM in International Human Rights Law.
