The Austrian platform for surveys, methods and empirical analysis (PUMA) learnt about the methodologies employed in the Agency’s surveys for reaching special populations, especially ethnic minorities and immigrants.
Today, 17 October marks the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The adoption of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 has provided a new agenda to address poverty eradication. While globally one billion people live in extreme poverty and more than 800 million endure hunger and malnutrition, in the European Union, one of the richest regions of the world, every fourth person experiences at least one of three forms of poverty or social exclusion.
Romanian State Secretary and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, George Ciamba, visited the FRA director on 13 October to talk about possible cooperation during its upcoming EU Council Presidency in the first half of 2019.
The FRA Director met high-level officials in Sofia from 19 to 20 September to further strengthen the Agency’s cooperation with Bulgaria in light of the future Bulgarian EU Presidency that will start in January 2018.
The FRA Director visited Finland from 22 to 23 May as the Agency continues to strengthen its ties with Member States. While there it was an opportunity to support the launch of Finland’s National Action Plan on Human Rights and meet with government ministers and the human rights community. It was also a chance to see at first hand the results of the Agency’s project on local engagement with Roma.
