The three-day event is a joint initiative by the National Federation of Polish NGOs, the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, Watchdog Poland and the Foundation for Poland.
It intends to pay tribute to the tireless work and contribution by civil society to upholding human rights under challenging circumstances. This is particularly the case in the context of the massive displacement of families and children caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine.
FRA will draw on findings from its bulletin on the fundamental rights impact of the Russian war against Ukraine and its report on civic space in the EU. It will highlight the role of civil society in promoting a rule of law culture and in monitoring fundamental rights in the context of the use of EU funds.
Around 100 activists and NGO representatives are expected to attend the event.
The event forms part of the Watch Docs human rights documentary film festival.
