ETIAS Fundamental Rights Guidance Board holds elections

The Fundamental Rights Guidance Board of the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) was established two years ago on 14 November 2022. FRA is a member of the Guidance Board.

On 14 November, members Board re-elected Sebastian Hümmeler, representative of the European Data Protection Board, as the Chairperson for the next term. They also elected a new Deputy Chairperson – Anita Danka, Senior Fundamental Rights Monitor at the Frontex independent Fundamental Rights Office. 

The term of office of the Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson is two years with possible re-election. 

The Guidance Board has an advisory function. In its work it has mainly focused on the implementation of the fundamental rights safeguards in the ETIAS Regulation.
