During the meeting, the Committee welcomed its newest member, Nicola Jägers, who was appointed in May 2025 following the resignation of Janneke Gerards. Nicola Jägers is Head of the Department of Public Law and Governance at Tilburg Law School, where she holds the Chair in Human Rights Law. From 2012 to 2021, she served two terms as Commissioner at the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights, the official National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) of the Netherlands. She is currently a member of the Steering Committee of the Netherlands Network of Human Rights Research (NNHRR), serves as Executive Editor and Editorial Board member of the Netherlands Quarterly of Human Rights (NQHR), and sits on the Human Rights Committee of the Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Nicola Jägers joins the other ten outstanding experts who together form the FRA’s Scientific Committee which meets four times a year and follows over the year the agency’s work in order to ensure the scientific quality of its work and outputs.
