This December marks 25 years since the Presidents of the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission solemnly proclaimed the EU’s bill of rights, the Charter of Fundamental Rights. To honour this important occasion, a special edition of the 3rd Annual Online CharterXchange, will take place online from 8 to 9 December.

The CharterXchange will discuss the practical application of the Charter in specific areas, such as justice, environment, enlargement, disability, AI systems, and digital services.

The agenda and registration link are available online

It also supports the anniversary conference ‘25 Years of Rights: Reflecting on the Impact of the Charter’ on 10-11 December, which is organised by the European Commission, FRA and the Danish Presidency of the Council. The conference will discuss the positive impact of Charter over the last 25 years internationally and nationally.

The conference will be live streamed

Both events are part of FRA’s wider efforts to promote the application of the EU Charter across the EU. It has a wide spectrum of tools ranging from the online database Charterpedia, a handbook for legal practitioners (in 23 languages), a training manual (also in 23 languages) and more

At the anniversary conference, FRA will launch a new report on better lawmaking that will underline the role of the EU Charter for law and policy making at EU and national levels. Moreover, the Agency will present a Sign Language version of the Charter.
