    As a result of an Institutional Cooperation Agreement signed in 2015 by several Spanish ministries working on combating racism, xenophobia, LGBTIphobia and other forms of intolerance, these institutions are developing joint and coordinated actions to improve hate crime recording and data collection. One of the outputs emerging from this collaboration is the annual report on hate crime published by the Ministry of Interior.

    Since 2011, the Estonian Ministry of Culture, Department of Cultural Diversity has carried out the Integration Monitoring of the Estonian Society survey every three years to monitor trends in the integration of immigrants and ethnic minorities. It also covers perceptions on the state of equality and attitudes of Estonians and non-Estonians towards integration.

    The Inter-institutional working group on discrimination monitoring is a platform led by the Finnish Ministry of Justice to gain shared understanding on the need for equality data. This cooperation and exchange strengthens the capacity of different stakeholders and gradually mainstreams equality data collection into the regular duties of participating organisations.

    In 2018, Statistics Lithuania started developing a user-friendly interactive map on gender equality in 60 municipalities. This allowed equality between women and men to be monitored based on more than 40 indicators.

    For the first time, the Central Statistics Office of Ireland has developed and included questions on gender identity and sexual orientation in the module on equality of the Quarter 1 2019 General Household Survey. After assessing the responses, it is planned to include these questions in the future population census.

    In 2018, the Finnish Ministry of Justice mapped data sources relating to discrimination. It aimed at identifying the sources to be regularly surveyed by the discrimination monitoring group and to make recommendations for a sustainable monitoring mechanism.

    Since 2016, the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, the National Police and the National Association of Municipal Anti-discrimination Services have been publishing figures on discrimination incidents registered by the police and complaints received by equality bodies in one online report. This brings together, presents and contextualises the data from several institutions dealing with discrimination complaints in different contexts. It also explains the relations and differences between the relevant datasets.

    The National Discrimination & Racism Monitor aims to examine the causes, extent and consequences of racism in Germany. The project intends to provide an effective tool for monitoring racism by combining quantitative, qualitative and experimental methods.

    In 2011, the Greek National Centre for Social Research set up the Observatory on Combating Discrimination to collect and disseminate equality data, support the evaluation of non-discrimination policies and promote the exchange of good practices in the country.

    The Croatian Ombudsman’s annual report is prepared annually and is based on complaints received, fieldwork and desktop research and data collected from several hundred stakeholders. It contains an analysis of administrative data (complaints) on discrimination concerning all grounds stated in the national Anti-Discrimination Act, joint statistics from three special ombuds institutions and a comprehensive overview of the types of citizen complaints received, along with descriptions of the most prominent cases and the outcome of the Ombudsman’s work on the subject. Along with an analysis and assessment of the status of protection of human rights and freedoms in Croatia, the report contains recommendations for removing systematic shortcomings and irregularities and an assessment of the degree to which the competent bodies have implemented earlier recommendations.
