Exchanging views on racial discrimination in access to housing

FRA contributed to a discussion group on racial discrimination in access to and tenure of housing in Spain.

FRA presented Spanish results from its second EU Minorities and Discrimination Survey as they relate to access to housing for Roma and North African immigrants and descendants of immigrants in particular.

The Spanish Ministry of Equality and the Spanish Association Pro-Housing jointly organised the meeting.

Representatives from regional, local and central government authorities responsible for housing, the Spanish Observatory of Racism and Xenophobia, civil society organisations dealing with racism and with access to housing, the State Council of Roma People, and other civil society representatives took part in the discussion.

The results of the discussion are expected to feed into a study on racial discrimination in the area of housing. The Spanish Ministry of Equality is preparing the study in cooperation with the Association Pro-Housing.

The discussion took place on 9 September.
