Coordination of the National Conference of Ombudspersons of the Regions and Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano (Coordinamento della Conferenza nazionale dei Difensori civici delle Regioni e delle Province autonome di Trento e Bolzano)
Italy does not have a national Ombudsperson: however, regional Ombudspersons exist, who coordinate thanks to the Civic Defence Coordination Network . The Coordination Network implements and promotes the implementation of all activities suitable to reaffirm the values of Civic Defence, to ensure the widest protection of citizens against the public administration, to promote the full affirmation of human and citizenship rights, enshrined in the Italian legal system and in European and international resolutions, and to develop links with the European Ombudsman. Eventually, it promotes the institution of the Ombudsperson also in the Italian regions lacking one (Apulia and Sicily) and, to this end, organises and sponsors cultural events, study conferences and training courses. Individuals' complaints against violations of rights perpetrated by public administrations can be filed at regional Ombudspersons' offices: each one has its own complaint procedure.
