Seimas Ombudsperson's Office

The Seimas Ombudsman is a state official appointed by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania who protects human rights and freedoms, investigates the complainant‘s complaints about abuse of office by or bureaucracy of officials and seeks to upgrade public administration.The Seimas Ombudsmen also carry out the national prevention of torture in places of detention in compliance with the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
