Children Act 2001Most juvenile offenders have been held in Children Detention Schools. The purpose of these schools is to provide care, education, training and other programmes with a view to reintegrating the children into society. Apart from that, the Government allocated resources to develop a new National Children Detention facility at Oberstown in 2015, involving the building of six new detention units with associated facilities.
