Key findings
In 2015, the Austrian security authorities registered a total of 1,156 right-wing extremist, xenophobic/ racist, Islamophobic, anti-Semitic as well as unspecific or other criminal acts. Compared to 2014 (750 offences) 1,156 offences means that the number increased by about 54.1 percent.
In 2015, the phenomenon of right-wing extremism appeared in the form of „xenophobia and hostility to asylum seekers“. The active movements in Austria launch Islamophobic campaigns and campaigns hostile towards asylum within the Austrian general and towards support structures for refugees.
