Key findings

ECRI recommends that the French authorities harmonise both the provisions that make hate speech a criminal offence and the associated procedures. Where applicable, ECRI recommends that the authorities ensure that all concerned members of the justice system are given training with regard to any new measure introduced in this area.• ECRI recommends that the French authorities take more effective steps to curb the exploitation of racism in politics.
