In 2015/16, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) completed 13,032 prosecutions for racially and religiously aggravated hate crime at an increase of 1.9% from the previous year. The conviction rate in such cases increased from 83.5% in 2014/15 to 83.8% in 2015/16. Sentence uplifts (increases sentences) rose from 12.0% of cases in 2014/15 to 34.8% of cases in 2015/16.
