Key findings
This report recounts the anti-constitutional efforts in the past year. One of the main issues was the so called hate postings on the internet. Especially on subjects of migrants and asylum seekers. This issue has led to a radicalisation and agitation of right-wing extremists against anything related to Islam. Therefore politically motivated crimes (PMK) have increased in 2016. Fear is the main tool of right-wing propaganda to incite hatred and disdain towards all Muslim people in Germany.
According to the report radical Islamic terrorism was a prominent threat to national security in Germany. With 5 separate attacks, of which one with 12 casualties, 2016 had the most attacks in recent years.
