Key findings

The yearly poll from the Ministry of Immigrants and Integration shows the share of non-western immigrants and descendants who have experienced being discriminated because of their ethnic background. In 2012, 45 % of all respondents report that they have experienced being discriminated because of their ethnic background. The share remained level in 2013 and dropped to 43 % in 2014 through 2016. However, in 2018 the share rose to a record high of 48 %.

Sample details and representativeness

The poll is part of the 'Integration Barometer' - a bundle of statistics collected by The Ministry of Immigrants and integration that measures the level of integration of immigrants and descendants into Danish society. The poll shows the share of non-western immigrants and descendants who have experienced being discriminated because of their ethnic background. Only immigrants who have resided in Denmark for at least three years are included. The poll has been conducted on a yearly basis since 2012
