Key findings
The cases that were dealth with by the Collective in 2021 related mostly to employment (29%), followed by education (26%), and life in society (21%). Among the 42 case files considered as Islamophobia by the Collective, 91% of victims were women. 60% of the case files related to the Brussels region. 57% of the case files related to discrimination. In 38% of the case files the author of the acts was part of a public structure (e.g. the police).

The report is an analysis of all cases report to the CIIB in 2021.
Sample details and representativeness
In 2021, the CIIB received 96 reports of facts considered as Islamophobia. After assessing the reports, the Collective considered 60 to be related to Islamophobia and opened 42 Islamophobia-related case files.
