Key findings

In February/March 2023, CVVM surveyed Czech attitudes toward various groups. The most rejected were persons with drug addiction (90%), persons with alcohol addiction (69%), and ex-convicts (64%), while the most accepted were people considered to be poor (2%) and the wealthy (5%). About 14% opposed foreigners and people of different skin colours, with similar attitudes toward Muslims. Rejection of LGBTQI individuals dropped from 42% in 2003 to 11% in 2023. Tolerance varies by education, age, and living standards; younger people are more accepting of people with drug and alcohol addictions. Younger people have significant more positive attitudes toward Muslims, as 60% of those aged 60+ reject Muslims, while among young people it is 30%.
