Key findings
The 2022 report on extremism in Czechia highlights ongoing anti-Muslim hate, though its prominence has declined compared to previous years. Anti-Muslim hate remains a supplementary theme in xenophobic discourse, particularly among extremist and disinformation networks. Some media continued to spread anti-Muslim narratives, often portraying Muslim migrants as threats. However, no major incidents of religiously motivated extremism were recorded. The Czech Muslim community largely regulates itself to prevent radicalization but remains wary of state institutions due to past anti-Muslim rhetoric.
Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)
The section on prejudicial hate is based, among other sources, on materials from the Security Information Service and the Czech Police, specifically specialists in extremism from the National Center for Combating Terrorism, Extremism, and Cybercrime of the Criminal Police and Investigation Service, as well as regional police directorates.
