Key findings
Citizen patrols' are groups of young men who organize themselves to 'defend' their local communities from an alleged threat from migrants. These patrols were supposed to prevent aggressive attacks by foreigners in the future. There were 30 described 'patrol' gatherings, in which a total of 953 people took part (as of October 28, 2024). As a result of the official actions taken by the police officers, 531 people were identified, 23 people were warned, 15 people were fined, 21 applications for punishment were made to the court and 2 people were detained. Moreover, in connection with the escalated events in Żyrardów, preparatory proceedings are being conducted under Article 119 § 1 of the Penal Code [discriminatory harassment].
