Key findings

In 2023, the Documentation Centre Austria recorded 1522 racist attacks against Muslims and persons perceived as Muslim, comprising offline cases (33.3%) and online cases documented as part of monitoring (66.7%). The number of people who actively reported cases in 2023 represents a novelty. Up to 507 cases were reported to the psychosocial and legal counselling service by victims and witnesses. Compared to 2022, this is an increase of more than 100%.
