Key findings
The study was commissioned by the Independent Expert Group Anti-Muslim Hatred. The study examined the positions of the German parliamentary parties on Islam in their election programmes and in the Bundestag. It finds continuous dichotomies ("we"/"they" confrontations) that depict the Islam as a dangerous, foreign and non-belonging religion. Only very few speeches and programs do not include anti-Islamic positions or anti-Muslims stereotypes.
Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)
Qualitative (content analysis of election programmes and debates)
Sample details and representativeness
Analysis of election programmes and debates/speeches of German parliamentary parties between 2015 and 2021.
