Key findings
In 2023 and 2024 there were numerous attacks on minorities, including for example racist and xenophobic physical assaults, acts of discrimination, racist incidents committed by football hooligans, hate speech in the Polish public debate. The report describes, among others, an event of 29 September 2023 in Warsaw, when a Chechen woman wearing Muslim attire was attacked during an anti-racism protest; an event of 24/25 August 2024, when a student was attacked due to his dark skin colour and the perpetrators were waving their hands at him and shouting 'f*cking Muslim'; as well as repeated events of 2023, when aid worker providing assistance to migrants was threatened when her car was vandalized and the entrance of her apartment block was painted with anti-Muslim and xenophobic messages.

The information included in the ‘Brown Book’ comes from representatives of the ‘NEVER AGAIN’ Association as well as from minority organisations who are partners of the association. Other materials are gathered from press articles, radio broadcasts, TV programmes, books, online publications as well as from various reports by Polish and international non-governmental organisations, dealing with the subject of prejudice and discrimination.
