Key findings

The survey findings show that 55 % of respondents would be very concerned, and 32 % would be concerned about public incitement to hatred against specific groups or their members (e.g. Roma, same-sex persons, refugees, etc) on the internet. According to the survey, 8 % of respondents would definitely report such incidents to competent organisations if they come across them, 20 % would probably report, 35 % of respondents are not sure, 31 % would probably not report such incidents, and 7 % would definitely not report them. Among those who would report such incidents, and those who are not sure, 49 % would definitely or probably report them to a specialised hotline for reporting punishable hate speech, 43 % would report them to the police, and 38 % would report them to the relevant content provider, for example. The survey findings also show that 4 % of respondents very much agree, and 34 % agree that they often come across instances of hate speech.
