Royal Decree 190/1996, of 9 February, approving Prison Rules (Real Decreto 190/1996, de 9 de febrero, por el que se aprueba el Reglamento Penitenciario)All convicts have the duty to work according to their aptitudes, however, pregnant women are exempted from this duty from birth to sixteen uninterrupted weeks later. In case of multiple births time should be extended up to eighteen weeks. Time can be distributed before and after birth at women's option, provided that at least six weeks must be enjoyed immediately after childbirth. Isolation sanctions will not be applied to pregnant women up to six months after the termination of pregnancy, nor to nursing mothers and to those who have children with them.
