| Penitentiary Principles Act (Penitentiaire beginselenwet) | Solitary confinement for a period of two weeks is a measure which the governor of a penitentiary prison can impose on a prisoner. The governor may extend this period each time by a maximum period of two weeks if he or she concludes that the necessity for solitary confinement still exists. The article does not stipulate a maximum of times this measure can be extended. Confinement in a punishment cell can be imposed for a maximum period of two weeks as a disciplinary punishment by the Governor of the penitentiary institution. A disciplinary solitary confinement has a maximum limit of two week and cannot be ordered sequentially. |
