Denmark Western High Court 2013 Denmark / Western High Court / Decision no. U.2014.73V Religion Muslims The Higher Court convicted a woman of incitement to hatred (hate speech) for a statement on the website 180grader.dk. In her statement, she wrote that Muslim men rape and kill their daughters based on a defect culture and religion. The lower court had previously acquitted the woman, finding the statements were not her own and that she had merely restated a previous statement by another critic of Islam. He was interviewed in 2009 by an online magazine. Denmark International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination 2012 UN, International Convention onthe Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination / Communication No. 46/2009 / Mahali Dawas and Yousef Shava Race/Ethnicity Refugees & asylum seekers This case relates to discrimination, physical violence and vandalism. In 2004 a group of 15-20 youths attacked the petitioners’ house. One managed to break into the house, and both petitioners were subjected to violence, including beatings. Other attackers outside the house shouted “go home!”, as well as other slogans of an offensive nature. After this attack, the family, including all eight children, had to flee the house.
