Key findings

It is important to fight against racism, and the prejudices and discrimination which people living in shantytowns are the object of, because change must initially concern mentalities before being able to inspire effective policies. The urgency requires an immediate halt to evacuations without adapted solutions and the perennial rehousing and support with access to the law, these operations do not breach human rights but are also counter-productive. Access to common law for people living in shantytown must be ensured without obstacle or discrimination, starting with the right to housing, but also the right to education and protection of children, the right to protection of health and access to services
