Key findings
The year 2014 was marked by tragic events. Some of them unfortunately served as an instrument to set citizens against others, to oppose groups against each other. The editorial successes of certain works which spread the conflation and raise fears, the stance of the parties of the extreme right in Europe on social tourism, the absence of positive counter-arguments either from politicians or the media or even immigration perceived as a plague by obscuring its benefits, which have been clearly established even if only from a social and financial point of view, have contributed to shaking up principles as cardinal as that of freedom of movement of European citizens.
Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)
Quantitative: A face-to-face survey carried out from 3 to 17 November 2014. The questionnaire was designed by the members of the CNCDH with the survey organisation.
