Key findings

The annual report of the CET makes it possible to follow up the activities, encounters and interviews carried out during the year by this equality body. During 2017, CET participated in an event related to hate speech: “Hate speech vs liberté d’expression” held by SNJ (Service National de la Jeunesse) within the “Share respect” campaign (9 February 2017).
The Annual report provides the following statistics: from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017 115 new complaints of discrimination had been identified by CET.

Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)

The statistics of CET include every case of discrimination identified as such by the equality body, whether the complaint had been introduced by the victim itself or by a third person. CET screens also the non-respect of equal conditions in job announcements.

Sample details and representativeness

In 2017 there had been 128 ongoing reported cases. The cases had been ordered and analysed by gender, age, nationality, nature of discrimination (8 cases for religion and 19 for race in 2017), domain of discrimination and follow-up status for each case.
