Key findings

The study show that persons with migrant background receive clearly less frequently invitations for job interviews than persons with Finnish background. The net discrimination rate calculated based on a comparison between Finnish job applicants and four migrant groups, show that the rate is highest for persons with Iraqi (62 %) and Somali (72 %) background. The rate for the other groups were 28 % (English) and 38 % (Russian).

Sample details and representativeness

Five fictitious job applicatons were submitted for 1000 vacancies. The main differene between the five applications were the names and mother tounge of the applicants. The mother tounges were Finnish, English, Iraqi, Russian and Somali.
