Key findings

In 2017, in total 1,075 crimes were registered by the police as "islamophobe", 45 of them were assaults against mosques. In 2018, in total 910 crimes were registered by the police as "islamophobe", 48 of them were assaults against mosques. From 2014 to 2018, the police registered 248 assaults against mosques of which 193 were classified to be caused by right-wing extremists.

Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)

Figures were drawn from the police crime statistics (Polizeiliche Kriminalstatistik) on "politically motivated crime" (politisch motivierte Kriminalität) which includes "islamophobe" (islamfeindlich) as a new category since January 2017.
