Key findings

According to official figures provided by the Federal Government, 190 crimes were registered by the police as "hostile to Islam" between 1 October and 31 December 2019, 18 of these crimes were assaults against mosques, 9 persons were injured. Furthermore, 2 demonstrations against "Germany’s Islamisation" that were alledly influenced by righ-wing extremists were counted by the domestic intelligence authorities. An update of the prior report on Anti-Muslim crimes in the third quarter of 2019 (German Bundestag 19/15647) shows: In total 271 crimes under the subtopic "hostile to Islam" were registered, 33 of them were assaults against mosques and 12 people were injured.

Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)

Figures were drawn from the police crime statistics (Polizeiliche Kriminalstatistik) on "politically motivated crime" (politisch motivierte Kriminalität) which includes "hostile to Islam" (islamfeindlich) as a new category since January 2017.
