Key findings

Studies, as well as complaints received by the Public Defender of Rights, show that for Muslim individuals, religious discrimination is compounded by racial discrimination. The grounds for discrimination have shifted from ethnic origin to religion, and reports of discrimination related to religious affiliation have increased, particularly among people from North Africa, Türkiye, and the Middle East, or those perceived to be from these regions. Specifically, 11% of individuals who identify as Muslim report experiencing religious discrimination, compared to 5% ten years ago.

Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)

Both quantitative and qualitative, the report is based on data from multiple sources: public statistics (such as the Trajectoires et Origines survey, TeO2, conducted by the Ined and Insee; mass testing, etc.), activity statistics from the Defender of Rights, scientific studies, etc.
