|Execution of Penalties and Detention in Custody Act (Закон за изпълнение на наказанията и задържането под стража)
|Women deprived of liberty are accommodated in separate prisons and prison dormitories. Juveniles deprived of liberty are accommodated in separate reformatories for boys and girls. Men and women detained in custody are also accommodated separately. Prison hospitals must also have separate units for the treatment of women. Pregnant women and mothers must receive an increased ration of food according to a special table during pregnancy and 10 months after birth.

|Pregnant women and nursing mothers must be under regular medical supervision. Pregnant women must be monitored throughout pregnancy by a doctor with a recognised specialty in obstetrics and gynaecology. If necessary, additional consultations must be held with other specialists. Maternity care of women deprived of liberty must be provided in medical establishments outside the places of deprivation of liberty.
