| Imprisonment Act (vankeuslaki/fängelselag) | Detainees have the right to receive visitors at times reserved for visits as often as possible without disturbing the order and operations of the prison. Visits may also be allowed at times other than those reserved for visits, if it is necessary for detainees to be able to maintain outside contacts or for another important reason. Granting permission for unsupervised visits is based on an overall consideration, taking into account, for instance, the detainees’ use and possession of intoxicating substances, disciplinary infractions committed by the detainee, and whether it can be assumed that prohibited substances or objects will be transported to the prison during the visit. |
