We – The Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, the Delegation of the European Union to the International Organisations in Vienna, and the diplomatic missions of Andorra, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, as well as the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), UN-Globe and the Diplomatische Akademie Wien – Vienna School of International Studies - all welcome 17 May as the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), to reaffirm the equality and dignity of LGBTI persons, and to stand firmly against all discrimination and in particular to oppose the criminalisation of consensual same-sex relations which is contrary to international human rights law.
Human rights are universal and apply equally to all people everywhere. That is why today and every day we work to address the ongoing discrimination against LGBTI persons globally.
