Helplines for victims

As part of the Victim Support Services project, FRA looked at the coverage and operation of helpline services for crime victims.

The six aspects included in this table relate to:

  1. the availability of telephone helplines for victims of crime using the recommended EU-wide number 116006;
  2. whether the helpline operates around the clock and all days of the week - 24/7;
  3. if the helpline operates nationwide rather than a regional number with regional scope;
  4. if the helpline caters to all victims of crime regardless of the nature of the offence rather than, for instance, victims of a particular type of crime, such as trafficking;
  5. if the helpline is funded and operated by the state;
  6. if the helpline is funded by the state but operated by a non-state actor.
