The United Nations Development Programme will hold an expert consultation on privacy, safety and security in collection, storage and use of data of LGBTI people and other marginalised populations in cyberspace.

The meeting will discuss ethical principles for data collection. This will help ensure that research on LGBTI people does not put people at risk and that the data is used in a safe and responsible manner, in line with human rights-based approach to data.

FRA will contribute to the consultation based on the agency’s extensive experience of data collection concerning hard-to-reach groups.

The meeting will take place in New York on 9 July.
