Conference explores shared responsibility in integrated border management

On 29 September, FRA provided fundamental rights insights during the final conference of the SHARED project.

FRA drew on its report and guidance on non-refoulement in border management as well as its legal opinion on the then proposed European Border and Coast Guard Regulation

The SHARED project has been run by the University of Barcelona in collaboration with the Queen Mary University of London and members of the European Parliament. The project aimed to elaborate joint guidelines on shared responsibility in the context of integrated border management of the EU external borders. 

The final conference took place in Barcelona from 28 to 29 September.

Around 60 experts and stakeholders in attendance. Participants included academic experts, leading civil society organisations and representatives of the Frontex Fundamental Rights Office, the European Data Protection Supervisor, and FRA, as well as Members of the European Parliament.
