Hearing discusses Roma employment rates

FRA took part in a public hearing on the labour market situation and Roma workers’ rights in a time of economic crisis.

The Permanent Group on the Inclusion of the Roma of the European Economic and Social Committee organised the event.

FRA spoke about the key employment results for Roma from its recent Roma survey 2021. It covered the factors contributing to these results – sex, age, disability, urbanity, residential segregation and discrimination.

FRA data further show that almost two thirds of employed Roma work in elementary occupation. The EU average general population rate is 8%.

The event took place in Brussels on 22 June.
