Moving towards integrated child protection systems in the EU

FRA provided an update about its child rights research on 20 October to European Commission representatives and child rights experts.

This included its work on updating its mapping of child protection systems in the EU. The input will feed into European Commission’s Recommendation on integrated child protection systems due in for 2024.

FRA also flagged some key findings of the recently published third Ukraine bulletin that focuses on the protection of children displaced from Ukraine.

FRA provided similar input to the ad hoc meeting of the EU Victims’ Rights Platform on 18 October.

The Platform focussed on on-going and planned actions on children as victims of crime such as supporting Ukrainian children in the EU and children as victims and witnesses of war crimes.

Key components of an integrated child protection system, such as a coordinated multi-agency approach, are also important considerations for the upcoming revision of the Victims’ Rights Directive.
