Description

The Good practice guide for hate crime reporting is aimed both at the general public, who may be potential victims of hate crime, and at law enforcement agencies, to help identify this type of crime. It is hoped that the guide will help with the correct preparation and processing of police reports.

The aim of the guide is to provide information, in a brief but direct way, on how to identify a hate crime, and how and where to report it. It is highlighted that the bias indicators should be included in police reports and sent to the public prosecutor for hate and discrimination crimes in each province, regardless of whether or not there is a known perpetrator, in accordance with the guidelines set out by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
